„Dear Honorary Consul Dovgiy,

Dear and distinguished friends,

Here we are, after one year, together again in order to celebrate this significant date which will be written in golden letters in the history of Montenegro. It is the day when Montenegro by the decicion of its citizens renewed its independence eleven years ago. Long before the renweal of independence, we had a clear vision that we want to be part of the European family, where we naturally belong. Therefore, we chose integration into NATO and the EU as the backbone of our foreign policy in the conviction that for one small European country it is the only logical choice and way that leads towards the long-term stability, security and prosperity.

We are ten days away from NATO membership and several years from the membership in the European Union. After joining NATO, a membership in the European Union is inevitable. Montenegro is now a locomotive which pulls the entire Balkan region ahead. By achieving these two goals, Montenegro will deservedly return to the world political scene. Great France, the other day, by handing the Order of the Legion of Honour to Nikola II Petrovic Njegos sent an apology to Montenegro for the injustice done to it in 1918. It is entirely obvious today that all these achievements indicate a new, better international position of our country.

The previous year was also a successful one in terms of cooperation between our two countries. By final acquiring of the address, opening of the Embassy and its equipping with staff the conditions to proceed with the further deepening of total bilateral relations between Montenegro and Ukraine on the principles of friendship and partnership were created and which is of mutual benefit for our citizens and the state. In the upcoming period, the Embassy will continue to work on intensifying and raising the level of political dialogue, economic and other contacts and cooperation, which will certainly contribute to the upcoming visits of our officials that are being under preparation.

The centuries-old tradition of friendship and solidarity connects Ukraine and Montenegro, and Montenegro, as it has been the case, will continue to provide an encompassing support to friendly Ukraine.

Dear friends, Consul Dovgiy, let me once again thank you for organizing this event and for your presence in celebrating this important date for my country.

I thank you with deep affection! "
